You probably aren’t this way but,
I’ve spent a lot of my life trying to hide from God.
Because I felt certain I deserved a beat-down.
Yet one day I realized, as Greg Long sings, “I Cannot Hide from You” (God)
Though I think I am pretty sneaky and clever, there isn’t any place I can get to that God isn’t already there.
What’s more important is that I see that God isn’t mad at me because
the Lord already knows I am screwed up.
What’s even more important is that God sent Jesus to help me get better.
- God isn’t angry at me
God loves me
God knows I can’t fix myself.
God did something special so I wouldn’t have to hide.
Isn’t that how you see it?
I think I’m successfully hiding from God when nothing is further from the truth. I think I have this secret place that God doesn’t know about … that God can’t find.
God wouldn’t be God if God didn’t know exactly where I was, exactly where I am, at any moment in my short life.
For me to think anything less is disrespectful of God. Of course, I’ve been disrespectful more than I care to admit. There was that time … (well you probably have your own list).
God knows everything about me because God is God.
God also knows forgiveness and hope have been offered to me not because of any goody-two-shoes thing I have done but because of what Christ has done.
When I respect what God has completed through Jesus the good news is I begin to see that God isn’t mad at me any more, therefore I don’t need to try to hide from Him.
Isn’t that right?
Thanks for spending some time with me on Lee’s Nite Radio.
