We followed him along the dusty highway as he left Tyre and headed toward Sidon and Lake Galilee and then beyond the Decapolis.
While we were on this road trip some people brought a man to him who was stone-deaf and could barely talk.
These people asked him to touch the man and make him whole.
What happened next was incredible!
He led the man away from the crowd yet, we still saw what happened.
- Jesus put his fingers into the man’s ears.
- Jesus spit into his hand and put this spit on the man’s tongue.
- Jesus looked up to heaven and simply said, “Be opened!”
Immediately the man could hear and talk.
This was more evidence Jesus was sent by God and it took our breath away.
Don’t you feel the same?
Regrettably there are too many times I’ve read a story in my Bible, like this one, and missed seeing what’s going on.
This story of the man Jesus healed at the end of Mark chapter 7 is a prime example. How long had this man been unable to hear and talk properly? What if I was that man? In fact, I’ve tried to put myself into his situation.
Jesus changed this man’s life forever and I wanted to picture and sense the gratitude and emotion the man, undoubtedly, felt.
I’ve made a resolution that from now on I’d like to remember to look at Bible’s stories with fresh eyes because like many stories this was a life changing event.
