I’m positive things would be better if you did everything my way.
This is what I suppose without saying the words.
Plus I’m talking to myself and saying:
- I’d be better off if I had a better job
- It’d be better off if I had a better marriage
- I’d be better off if I had better health
- I’d be better off if had better wealth
- I’d be better off if I had [___________].
I am not clueless about how to be content, but
I am an expert complainer
I am sure if you looked just like me I’d still find something wrong with you.

TURNING
What is contentment?
Is it a place? If so,
How do I visit this place?
How do I get there?
- Use MapQuest?
- GPS?
- Could my smartphone find this place?
Is contentment one of those gifts I’ve neglected to open?
Yes.
Because I’m the center of my attention.
I’ve belittled my gift-wrapped present. Consequently,
I’ll remain discontent as long as me is my primary focus.

FINDING CONTENTMENT
If I opened my unopened present would I notice the source of contentment?
Sure … to make it a Blue-Ribbon Day I must switch my focus to:
Jesus and others.
Wouldn’t you agree?

Food for thought:
I know what it is to be poor or to have plenty, and I have lived under all kinds of conditions. I know what it means to be full or to be hungry, to have too much or too little. Christ gives me the strength to face anything. (Philippians 4:12, 13)
God can bless you with everything you need, and you will always have more than enough to do all kinds of good things for others. 2 Corinthians 9: 8

Bonus Song:
Sanctus Real: Keep My Heart Alive
How’s your day going?
Are you content yet?

Let me be honest with you, I’m feeling anxious today … What I’m saying is that I’m not at peace … I’m not calm … I’m feeling discontent …
But I don’t want to feel like this … I want to experience content … so, how do I find contentment? … How do I make it a Blue-Ribbon Contentment Day?
Well there are many options available aren’t there? … For example: Maybe a half-gallon of my favorite flavor of ice cream will make me feel content? … Maybe a little indulgence in my secret sin will make me feel content? … Perhaps if I could buy a new car I’d feel content? …
What is it? … What will make me content for longer than a few minutes today? … I suppose we all have a list of some things to do or some things to try in order to make us feel content … still we realize
[inside our better self]
this stuff we could do won’t actually satisfy us … these things won’t bring us contentment …
Here it is: When I dare to switch my focus from the temporary to the Lord of eternity, i.e. Jesus, then I begin to feel and know something about contentment …
I can make it a Blue-Ribbon Day if I’ll use God’s gift of contentment—Jesus. …
I appreciate your company on Lee’s Nite Radio.
