(In The Beginning)
The majority said He had to die.
There was no other way.
When I looked at him, beat up and suffering, I felt no pity.
- His oozing blood.
- His dripping sweat.
- His running snot only increased my animosity.
- His life meant nothing to me.
- His name meant nothing to me.
- He was a nobody.
I only felt contempt.
My hostility boiled over and foamed with hatred. I was thoroughly sickened by this human being, whom a few referred to as the Son of God.
How could anyone be so deceived?
In the world I live in Jesus is controversial.
- Some pretend indifference.
- Some suppose He can be dismissed.
- Some show defiance.
Whatever, because no matter what is thought, fabricated, or done in opposition to Christ will ultimately fail.
- Jesus will not go away.
- Jesus is here.
- Jesus is forever.
It matters not how tightly eyes are squeezed or minds are numbed. Jesus cannot and will not always be eluded.
Indifferent, dismissive defiance will be terminated … will be regretted.
This is just the way it is.
These were a few of my thoughts as I prepared to go on the air.
I had been in Christian radio for many, many years. The preparation for spiritual conflict was more intense some days than others.
Today I felt a strong resistance to the truth of Christ.
This was OK. It was, also, just the way it is.
I prayed to be humble and dependent upon the Lord’s Holy Spirit. Because relying on my reason and strength guaranteed failure.
It would be intriguing to live through this on-air work shift and see what God had in store for me to experience.
- I trembled in fear as I approached the microphone.
- I sipped some water.
- I took a deep breath.
“Lord Jesus, order my day … lead me, show me how to be your servant.”
Ready or not here it comes.
Spiritual conflict shouldn’t be approached flippantly. Spiritual conflict shouldn’t be brushed aside as trivial.
- A soul is at stake.
- Survival is at stake.
- Life is at stake
According to Jesus, you are (I am) worth dying for.
I agree, He had to die. It means my survival.
