I read Ephesians 4 yesterday.
The whole chapter can be summarized this way:
- For your own good quit doing that and start doing this.
When this becomes my new reality I will live as God intended and enjoy the very best of God’s very best.
- Is this what I want?
- It is.
- Am I able to pull it off?
- I am not.
But the Holy Spirit can do this if I’ll continually cooperate.
Track what the Apostle Paul is writing:
(1-16) I must quit fighting God and become his prisoner. If I surrender my best life is ahead. Do I want this to happen? Yes, I do. And Christ Jesus is eager to show me what he has gained for me (us). To receive all that the Lord has for me I must discontinue believing and following lies. By the power of God’s Holy Spirit this can come to pass. Jesus is here to make my “new life” a reality.
(17-24) Quit being stupid live the life God has planned for you. 17 As a follower of the Lord, I order you to stop living like stupid, godless people. 22 You were told that your foolish desires will destroy you and that you must give up your old way of life with all its bad habits. 23 Let the Spirit change your way of thinking 24 and make you into a new person. You were created to be like God, and so you must please him and be truly holy. (Self-talk to me) “Pay attentions to what you’re reading and let it live in and through you.”
(25-32) The Lord God has given me a challenge to live. In order for this to become actual I must realize that I am constantly going to be resisted by evil. This isn’t a bad thing because it will set loose the power of God in my life. Live the life God intended you to live.
These are my thoughts.
