I stared at him with my blank uncommitted face as he spoke.
I sat in a group of others in a big room decorated with banners, an altar, and a huge empty cross.
“Life has no meaning when it’s disconnected from God.”
“Is this right?” I wondered.
He didn’t pause.
“Because it’s God who made us alive.
God is the source of our existence and gives our life meaning.”
“Is this true?” I pondered.
He couldn’t hear my thoughts.
“A person can attempt to live life absent from God but when all is said and done they will accomplish only a feeling of emptiness … because something essential has been missed.”
“Yes, I’m feeling that.” I hesitantly agreed.
He kept going.
“Life without God in the end equals unhappiness.
This is so because God meant for us to be connected to him.”
“Really?” I squirmed uncomfortably.
He didn’t notice.
“Every human is complete when they have a living intimate relationship established and functioning with God.”
“Perhaps things could improve?” I contemplated.
“Do something worthwhile for yourself. Cultivate a relationship with God. You’ll be happy today and tomorrow. Come and see.”
“Hmm?” I wondered.
