I’m trying to get a grip on the mystery of “faith”
Bible teachers have instructed me to live each day with faith.
What are they saying?
Their coaching says to rely on God even when my state of affairs appears hopeless.
“Quit doubting! Don’t give up! Keep on treading!”
ONE DEFINITION
I’ve been taught that to live within this place of faith means to suspend what my reason and senses suggest are valid.
The mystery of living inside faith means:
- Standing still
- Keeping silent and
- Trusting God (no matter what).
What’s more, I’m informed to do this because God sees clearly what I don’t. Does this make sense?
PRACTICING
Hebrews 11: 1 Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it. (NCV)
Yet, this isn’t where I’m living—yet.
How do I grasp this kind of faith and make it mine?
How do I believe when I do not see any perceptible evidence?
FAITH?
Yes, I agree God exists outside of my senses.
- God is not a sound,
- Not a sight,
- Not a taste,
- Not a touch,
- Not a smell
(And still can be any or all of these if God chooses).
Does that make sense?
ON THE INSIDE
How do I grow up and become solid in my faith?
How do I eat meat and wash it down with my glass of milk?
How do you see it?
Faith is a challenge.
Isn’t it?
Words like: confidence, trust, reliance, assurance, and conviction are alive inside faith.

This has been something I have been learning for 2 1/2 years and I recently have gotten to the place where I know it’s true.
